Nutritional Advice                                            Back to Gym Information

As with anything in life, balance is the key. It is vital to the human body to receive all the essential nutrients that it needs in order to function at an optimum level.

These key nutrients are Carbohydrates, Fats, Proteins, Water, Fibre, Vitamins and Minerals. The general spilt of nutrients taken daily can be broken down to the following

· 65% Carbohydrate

· 20 % Protein

· 15% Fat

An imbalance or lack of any these nutrients can lead to severe health issues and problems such as heart disease and obesity. So in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and prevent us from having to follow a “diet” there are some simple principles to stick to.

Maintain your hydration and regulate metabolism by drinking 2-3 litres of water per day (avoid caffeine and other diuretics)

Eat small and often, up-to 6 times a day.

Avoid fatty, fried and fast food options at all costs.

Maintain a balanced blood sugar by eating predominantly complex carbohydrates. Main Carbohydrate intake should be taken at lunch time not in the evening.

Avoid starvation as this will damage your metabolism.

Avoid fad diets and try to plan ahead when ever possible.

Ensure optimum vitamin levels by supplementing a Multi Vitamin tablet daily.

Avoid excessive alcohol and  smoking.
